Surfing Academy Fees Information

Home Stay Students

Boarding fees are levied separately as agreed between the host family, supervisor and parents and are not administered by the school.

Pupils will find that there are additional charges for materials and related expenses for individual subject areas.  These will be outlined within the stationery accounts which are issued in the first week of the new school year.  Further charges may also be levied where students choose to go on special trips or when students travel to various surf competitions.

Students sitting external examinations, Unit Standards or other tests (e.g. Drivers Licence) will also need to meet the associated fees.

A deposit of $112.50 (GST inclusive) will be charged at enrolment.  This will be credited against student’s final account when they leave.  This deposit is non-refundable in the event that your son/daughter does not start with the academy following your acceptance of a place.

Payment of Fees

The full year’s fees will be charged within the first term of the school year.

Withdrawal

Advice of notice of withdrawal from the Academy is required one full term in advance of the effective date.  In Lieu of notice being given, one term’s fees are payable.

Guardians Living Overseas

It is a condition of enrolment for Home Stay students that parents/caregivers living overseas at any stage of your child’s enrolment in the Surfing Academy, nominate guardians resident in New Zealand, whom the school can contact.

Timeline

Applications for enrolment including a referee statement and copies of the End-of-year and the current Mid-year reports, as well as a letter from the applicant telling us about themselves and why they want to join the academy, need to be submitted with a $25.00 (GST inclusive) application fee by October each year.  All applications will be acknowledged.

The interviews will be held early November, during which time parents/caregivers will be able to meet with staff, the Home Stay Coordinator, members of the Advisory Board and view the facilities.

Notification of acceptance into the programme will be sent out in the 1^st week of December, if not before.
