A very warm welcome to all students and whanau of Raglan Area School. We are looking forward to renewing our relationships with many of you and to forming new ones with those who are new to Raglan or new to school. We hope that you are all rested and well, and ready for a very busy Sesquicentennial Jubilee year. (1866 -2016) This is our Raglan Area School 150th Jubilee Year.
The teachers have been busy setting up their classrooms and preparing for their students arrival on Tuesday the 2nd February. (Monday being Auckland Anniversary weekend.) The day will begin with us all meeting together in the gymnasium for Karakia and welcome before students are greeted by staff and taken to their classes. Whanau are welcome to join us for this hui and to support their children to transition into kura. We welcome several new staff to our school including Megan Williams (Yr 1-2) who will be joining us in a few weeks, Jason Wairepo (Yr 3-4) and we welcome back Larry (Surfing Academy) and Donna Fisher (Yr 5-6), Ariana Millward (Yr 7),Tracy Cathro (Yr 5-6), and Sheree Gibson (Yr 3-4). Teacher only days are this Thursday and Friday 28th and 29th February beginning with a Powhiri for new staff at Poihakena Marae.
The term dates for 2016 are:
Term1 is from Monday 2nd February to Friday 15th April (Monday the 8th is the holiday for Waitangi Day and Easter this year includes Good Friday March 25th through to and including Tuesday 29th March)
Term 2 is from Monday 2nd May through to Thursday 7th July
Term 3 is from Monday 25th July through to Friday 23rd September
Term 4 is from Monday 10th October through to either the 15th of December
